Language course "Welcome to Studying in Germany"
This language course, specially developed for international students, will help you prepare for the start of your studies!
In 8 chapters, it provides comprehensive factual and procedural knowledge about studying, language and culture in Germany.
International students who will be starting their studies at your university in 2025 are cordially invited by Deutsch-Uni Online to participate.
Key dates for the ‘Welcome to Studying in Germany’ course:
- Course start: The next course starts on 21 March 2025 and runs over two moderated course weeks,followed by two further weeks of flexible access to all course content according to individual interest and need. The registration deadline is 17 March.
- Interactive learning in groups: Participants learn in small groups with other international students. This encourages dialogue and enables new contacts to be made before the start of the course.
- Personalised support: A trained tutor accompanies the students, supports the learning process, answers questions and moderates the exchange within the group.
- Comprehensive knowledge: The course covers all the important information that international students need for a successful start in Germany.
- Topics such as semester planning, learning organisation, cultural and linguistic particularities and much more are covered in detail.
- Flexibility: The course is online-based. Participants can access it conveniently from any location. This enables optimal customisation to individual schedules.
- Costs per participation: EUR 65.00
Weekly office hours
During the semester our office hours will every week on Monday from 4-5pm and
Thursdays from 5-6pm. During these hours, members of the IKUS team will be available to answer any questions you may have, refund event deposits, etc.
Office Hours in the lecture free period ( February 1st to March 23rd) take place on Monday 12-1pm, and Thursday on appointment online.

Throughout the International Welcome Weeks (March 24th- April 5th) there will be an increased amount of office hours. You can (soon) find date and time for those in the Programme for the upcoming Welcome Weeks.

Are you an international student studying at OVGU? Then you now have the chance to complete an internship in a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME)! The "Partners of Tomorrow" program is funded by the Ministry of Economics, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt. This programme has already enabled many international students to gain work experience and positively shape their careers. Here you can also find important impulses for student research projects and final theses. At the same time, you can enrich the intercultural skills of companies and enhance the internationalization of the economy and the labour market in Saxony-Anhalt.
